The girls’ gymnastics team competed in an all around meet at SM South on Wednesday, Oct. 9. An all around meet is where all of the Shawnee Mission School District schools bring up to six of their top gymnasts, with each person competing individually. Each competitor is scored separately instead as team.

Senior Madi Lage was the only East gymnast that placed. Lage received sixth on vault and sixth on bars.

“Everyone competed the best they could, and competed in all four events” said Lage.

Lage believes there is a good chance to place high in the upcoming meets.

“I expect us to do extremely well if everyone competes the way they know how to, including me,” said Lage. “If we all compete and do our routines and skills the way we always do, then I think we could do very, very well.”

Sunflower League will take place this Saturday, Oct. 12 at Olathe North High School. State will also take place there on Saturday, Oct. 26.
